If the instrument is a T-1000, you must determine whether it is a single or double row keyboard instrument. If it is the older 6-key gun there is not much you can do. The double row unit can be configured to act like a T-2000, but the changes must be made on both instrument and in the Survey Pro instrument settings.
Always work in FINE mode. This is set in the device driver by pressing FAST. "Coarse mode disabled" or "Fine mode enabled" is the message you want to see. If you are in Fast mode, the instrument will tell you to: Set gun in SD mode; or lock up; or start to take the shot, then give you an Error 22 (Wild Communications error).
The new 1100/1800 series must use the TPS 1100 driver. Pointers include: set "send stakeout data to gun?" at yes in order to use Servo features.
Look for the WLD inscription to designate TDS Cables. On the early Wild guns a TDS cable with impedance and resistance is required for successful communication.
To get to the Config screen on a Leica 605, hold the MENU button for 2 seconds. The 605 has an internal setting that allows 8bit or 16 bit word length-this must always be set to 8-bit for TDS communication to take place.
