Summary:

The following document describes the work-around procedures for fixing a communications issue that only affects Leica TPS total stations. This is only a problem for customers with Survey Pro version 3.8.

Ranger/Recon/iPAQ + Survey Pro (non-robotic)

1. Tap on File > Registered Modules
2. Write down the registration code that is shown on the screen, you will need this later. If you do not write down the code, you will need to call TDS Tech Support to reactivate your software when you are finished.
3. Press the "D" key on the Ranger. On the Recon, bring up the Keyboard and select "D" on the screen.
4. This will bring up a prompt stating: "Are you sure you want to reset the registration information?" Select the "OK" button.
5. Now exit out of the Survey Pro program by tapping File > Exit.
6. From the desktop, double tap your Survey Pro icon to run Survey Pro.You should see a message that asks you to run in demo mode. Select the option that says "Run in Demo Mode".
7. Open a job with less then 25 points and then proceed to Job > Settings.
8. On the instrument tab you should already be set to Brand - Leica and Model - TPS Series, if this is not the case, please do so.
9. Then tap on the button labeled "Instrument Settings"
10. Under instrument settings, you should be on the Mode tab.
11. Check the box next to "Remote Mode" by tapping on it.
12. The Mode options will become active when you complete step number 11. Next, toggle the selection to GSI. To do this, just tap on the circle next to GSI.
13. Uncheck the "Remote Mode" by selecting the box again.
14. Hit "OK" in the top left corner.
15. You will now need to reenter your registration code. Navigate to File > Registered Modules.
16. Select "Enter Registration Code" and input the code that you wrote down in step 2. If you do not have your code, please call 541-753-9322 for the number.

You should now be ready to connect to your Leica total station.

Ranger/Recon/iPAQ + Robotics

1. Go to Job > Settings
2. On the instrument tab you should already be set to Brand - Leica and Model - TPS Series, if this is not the case, please do so.
3. Then tap on the button labeled "Instrument Settings"
4. Under instrument settings, you should be on the Mode tab.
5. Check the box next to "Remote Mode" by tapping on it.
6. The Mode options will become active when you complete step number 5. Next, toggle the selection to GSI. To do this, just tap on the circle next to GSI..
7. Uncheck the "Remote Mode" box, by selecting it again.
8. Hit "OK" in the top left corner.

You should now be ready to connect to your Leica total station.
