Changing Coordinates from Feet to Meters or Meters to Feet

If you are running Survey version 4.0 or higher on your 48GX, the following routine will allow you to convert your coordinates from feet to meters or from meters to feet.

From the main menu select [N] for survey adjustment. From the Survey Adjustment screen select [G] for Change Scales.

Enter the first point in your job in the >from point: field and the final point in the To point: field. Put your base point number in the Base point: field (usually your first point).

In the Scale factor: field, enter 0.3048 to convert from feet to meters or enter 3.28084 to convert from meters to feet. In the Scale elevation:> field, select Yes, press [SOLVE] then [EXIT] back to the Survey Adjustment screen.

To make your elevations reflect the conversion, select [H] to enter the Translate Job screen. Leave the begin and end points defined as before and are sure that zero is entered in the Horiz dist: field. Scroll down to the "Elevation+-": field and enter the number found from the appropriate formula below.
Feet to Meters: "Elevation +-" = (Base Point Elevation in feet) x (-0.6952) this will be a negative number.
Meters to Feet: "Elevation +-" = (Base Point Elevation in meters) x (2.28084) this will be a positive number.
After entering in the correct number (don't forget the - sign for a feet to meters conversion), hit [SOLVE].
Your coordinate file should now reflect the conversion.
