Tripod Data Systems Names Handheld Europe AB as European Master Distributor for TDS Handheld Computers

Corvallis, Ore.—April 6, 2004—Tripod Data Systems (TDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB), today announced that Swedish company Handheld Europe AB has been named the company's European master distributor for the popular TDS ReconTM and RangerTM rugged handheld computers.
The Recon and Ranger rugged handheld computers provide data collection capabilities in extreme temperatures, driving rain, dusty job sites and other harsh environments. Handheld Europe AB will provide sales, support and service for TDS handhelds throughout Europe. Distribution of the products through the Trimble channel in Europe will remain unchanged.

TDS will refer all its European business to Handheld Europe AB. To meet growing international sales and service needs, TDS plans to name additional master distributors in various regions around the world.
The TDS Recon offers rugged performance with a lightweight, compact design. It runs Windows Mobile software for Pocket PCs on its Intel XScale processor and has two CompactFlash slots for adding memory or peripheral devices. The Recon meets MIL-STD-810F standards for drops, vibrations and extreme temperatures, and its IP67 rating means it's impervious to dust and water immersion.
The TDS Ranger set the standard as the first truly rugged Windows CE handheld computer. It features a 206 MHz Intel StrongARM processor and offers up to 512 MB of Flash memory. It can handle extreme temperatures from 140 to -13 °F (60 to -25 C), it meets tough military standards for drops and vibration, and it has an IP67 rating.
