Corvallis, Ore.—February 26, 2003—Tripod Data Systems (TDS) today announced an immediate price reduction for select models of the rugged TDS RangerTM handheld. Prices for the Ranger 200T with 128 MB of Flash RAM have been reduced by $100; prices for the Ranger 200C have been reduced by $500. The price reductions include stand-alone Rangers as well as Rangers bundled with TDS survey software, including Survey ProTM.

"Since its introduction three years ago, the Ranger has proven itself as a powerful surveying tool that can stand up to tough field conditions," said Bill Martin, TDS director of survey marketing and sales. "Now more affordable than ever, the Ranger gives surveyors a fast, accurate data collector with all the advanced capabilities of the latest Windows CE operating system."

The rugged Ranger is ideal for work in extreme outdoor and industrial conditions, exceeding the MIL-STD-810E standard for drop test, shock and vibration and IP67 for protection against dust and water. Its soft polyurethane exterior makes the Ranger slip-resistant and comfortable to hold. The Ranger 200T features a 206 MHz Intel® StrongARM® processor and a 320x240 backlit monochrome display. The Ranger 200C includes all the features of the 200T plus a reflective color display and 64 MB of SDRAM. Both Rangers feature a 57-key tactile-action keyboard with separate navigation and alphanumeric keypads, along with touch-screen input. The Ranger uses the Microsoft® Windows® CE operating system, with Windows CE .NET on Rangers bundled with TDS software.
