Corvallis, Ore.—February 17, 2004—Tripod Data Systems (TDS) today announced new lower prices for the rugged TDS RangerTM 200C handheld when bundled with TDS survey software, including Survey ProTM.

Customers can save up to $1,200 off the previous list price depending on the software. Savings include $600 for the Ranger with Survey Standard software, $900 for the Ranger with Survey Pro, and $1,200 for the Ranger with Survey Pro Max.

"More than 20,000 Ranger handheld computers have proven their reliability and performance under the toughest field conditions," said Eric Hall, TDS survey products manager. "With this, our lowest price ever for a color model Ranger with software, now is the perfect time to upgrade."

The rugged Ranger is ideal for work in extreme outdoor conditions. It meets the stringent MIL-STD-810E military standard for drop test, shock and vibration, and it comes with an IP67 rating for protection against dust and water. The Ranger 200C features a 206 MHz Intel StrongARM processor, a 320x240-pixel reflective color touch-screen display, 64 MB of SDRAM and 32, 128 or 512 MB of Flash memory. Its soft polyurethane exterior makes the Ranger slip-resistant and comfortable to hold, and it also includes a 57-key tactile-action keyboard with separate navigation and alphanumeric keypads. The Ranger uses the Microsoft Windows CE .NET (CE 4.0) operating system.

The Ranger is available from TDS-authorized dealers. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) is $2,199 for the Ranger 200C with 32 MB Flash; $2,599 with 128 MB Flash; and $2,999 with 512 MB Flash.
