CORVALLIS, Ore.—November 29, 2004—AppForge, Inc. and Tripod Data Systems (TDS) today announced a technology partnership agreement that benefits mobile application software developers and enterprises that use mobile handheld technology in challenging environments.
AppForge's cross-platform mobile application development software, CrossfireTM, provides developers with a fast way to develop and deploy rich mobile applications to more than 300 mobile devices including the rugged TDS ReconTM handheld computer.
The Recon runs Microsoft Windows MobileTM 2003 software for Pocket PCs and delivers maximum performance and reliability in a lightweight, extremely rugged design that's easy to carry. The rugged mobile device offers users the most popular handheld applications-including Pocket versions of Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer. Its standard PowerBoot ModuleTM features a 15-hour rechargeable NiMH battery.
"Its rugged nature and lightweight design make the TDS Recon an outstanding choice for our customers to develop mobile applications with an outdoor focus," said Sue Pinns, vice president of business development for AppForge. "We see AppForge Crossfire and the Recon as a compelling combination for the mobile development community."
"We're impressed with how Crossfire allows developers to quickly port applications from one operating system to another," said Dale Kyle, TDS rugged handhelds product manager. "And we think that Recon developers will find this product to be a very useful tool."
The focus of the technology partnership is to leverage the synergy between the two product lines and offer enterprises more robust mobile solutions.
"After ruggedness, the most popular features of the Recon are its ease of use and versatility," said Dale Kyle, rugged handhelds product manager. "And, of course, the easiest way to use it is in a person's native language."
