Sunnyvale, Calif.—November 18, 2003—Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) today announced that Bill Martin will assume the role of president at Tripod Data Systems (TDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Trimble. Martin will succeed Dave Scribner, who is retiring after serving as president for 12 years. Martin, who joined TDS in 2001 as director of sales and marketing, will begin his new role as president on January 1, 2004.

"Under Dave's leadership, TDS has experienced tremendous growth and established a strong market position," said Steven W. Berglund, president and CEO of Trimble. "We wish him well upon his retirement."

During Scribner's tenure at the company, TDS has played a major role in the surveying market and has added a successful line of hardware devices including the rugged RangerTM and ReconTM handheld computers, designed for all-day operation in extreme environments. He was also key during negotiations for the purchase of TDS by Trimble in 2000.

"TDS is strategically positioned as the leading supplier of field-based collection and processing applications, thanks to the leadership of Dave," said Bill Martin. "I intend to build on Dave's success to address the world of mobile, rugged surveying and GPS solutions. We will continue the practices that have led to our success-strong OEM and dealer relationships, and a clear focus on serving our customers' needs."

Martin came to TDS from Ashtech, where he was marketing manager for survey products. He held several positions of increasing responsibility over a 10-year period. Prior to Ashtech, Martin worked as a geodetic engineer for Holden GPS, an engineering and surveying firm.

Currently, Martin is responsible for the worldwide sales of TDS product lines. He also directs distributor relationships throughout the company's U.S. and international sales network, and supervises corporate communications activities.

Martin has a B.S. degree in survey engineering from the University of Maine.
