Corvallis, Ore.—October 7, 2003—Tripod Data Systems (TDS) announced today the "Save a Grand" bundle rebate program, which includes a $1,000 rebate on the TDS ReconTM and the Nikon DTM-522 total station when purchased together.

"The TDS Recon has proved itself to be a powerful data collector with superior performance under such demanding conditions as extreme temperatures, driving rain, dust and punishing bumps and drops," said Tom Stevens, national sales manager. "This offer makes it easy to upgrade to the rugged TDS Recon and Nikon DTM-522 total station for an unbeatable combination."

The rebate is offered through December 31, 2003 on the Nikon DTM-522 with a 200 MHz or 400 MHz Recon and any TDS software, including Survey Standard, Survey ProTM, Survey Pro RoboticsTM, Survey Pro GPSTM and Survey Pro MaxTM.

The Recon weighs just 17 ounces and is built to take advantage of Survey Pro software’s productivity-boosting features. The Nikon DTM-522 total station offers an easy-to-read graphic LCD and ergonomic keyboard on both faces. It is known for its mechanical integrity, long battery life and rapid measuring speed.

The Nikon DTM-522 total station features include:

  • Three-second angle accuracy
  • Range of 8,900 ft to a single prism
  • Distance accuracy of ±(2 + 2ppm x D)mm in Precise mode
  • Distance resolution of 0.005 ft in MSR mode (0.002 ft in TRK mode)
  • 12.1 lbs including battery
  • Compact display of necessary information
  • 100% software resume function
  • IPX4 all-weather construction

The Nikon DTM-522 also features a single clip-on battery that provides approximately 10.5 hours of continuous distance/angle measurement, or 24 hours of one measurement every 30 seconds. It also offers fast initial distance measurement of only 1 second, with 0.5-second updates in TRK mode and 1.0-second updates in MSR mode.

This model features Nikon’s unique Lumi-Guide red tracking light above the telescope’s objective lens. The Lumi-Guide can be used as a convenient signal to the rodman, assists in one-man clearing of lines and works as a prism illuminator in night surveying.

All purchases must be made from authorized TDS Nikon dealers, and rebate applications must be postmarked by January 31, 2004. More information on the TDS Recon with Survey Pro software and the Nikon DTM-522 can be found at www.tdsway.com or at a TDS Nikon dealer. Dealer location information is available from TDS at 541-753-9322.
