Corvallis, Ore.—November 01, 2001—Tripod Data Systems (TDS) today announced the immediate availability of SOLO CE 3.0 for Windows CE and Pocket PC. SOLO CE 3.0 GIS/Mapping software lets GIS users edit both the attribute database and the geometry of Shapefile basemaps. This latest version also introduces new scripting capability for developing a custom user interface. Scripts can be created to maximize the use of existing basemap, form and GPS controls for specific applications.

"The new editing flexibility will make it much easier for users to make changes and amendments while they are out in the field. Other programs require additional office software to be able to make these changes," said Chaur-Fong Chen, GIS Division Manager. "We expect that this, plus the new scripting capabilities, will be real time savers for SOLO users as they complete data collection, maintenance and reassessment projects."

Other new features bring increased raster and vector support, including DXF, DOQ, SHP, MIF, UDF, TIF, JPG, and SIF file formats. All basemap formats can be utilized on the data collector in their native format with no need for pre-processing through an office package. SOLO CE 3.0 has also added additional GPS receiver support to include the Trimble TSIP protocol and RTK GPS support.

SOLO CE 3.0 is available now through authorized TDS dealers.
