CORVALLIS, OREGON—July 1, 1999—Tripod Data Systems (TDS) announced today Survey Pro GPS 4.5, the first version of the company's surveying software to perform true map projection and geoid modeling for RTK GPS data collection at the centimeter level. First released three years ago, Survey Pro offers field-hardened support for leading RTK GPS receivers including Ashtech, Javad, Leica, NovAtel and Topcon.
Survey Pro GPS is the first surveying software to enable data collected with RTK GPS to be stored in the same files as data collected with a total station. "This is a tremendously flexible solution," said Rich Wittrup, GPS Product Sales Manager. "Surveyors can use a mix of total stations and RTK GPS receivers and now, the user is free to choose any combination of localization, mapping plane and geoid modeling to best fit the needs of each project."
Localization is a simple and effective routine that approximates a small section of the Earth's surface as a plane, which works well for small-scale projects. Survey Pro GPS 4.5 allows users to integrate GPS measurements into large-scale projects with no loss of precision and without the need to localize on multiple control points.
Survey Pro GPS 4.5 is available immediately directly from TDS or from authorized TDS distributors. Pricing varies depending on hardware/software configuration. Upgrade pricing for current owners of Survey Pro GPS begins at $200. All upgrades include the newest Geodetic module for Survey Link.
