Tripod Data Systems Adds New Features to its GIS Product for Windows CE

CORVALLIS, OREGON—March 8, 1999—TDS has added two new functions to its SOLO CE software for Windows CE handheld computers. SOLO CE is the first GPS/GIS mapping solution for Windows CE.

The first enhancement, the Walk to Object function, enables the user to calculate the direction to an offset object. This function calculates the direction to the target as you walk from the starting position to the target, enabling the user to generate accurate offsets without a compass.

The second enhancement enables user to map locations without using GPS. The user simply points to the desired unmapped location on the screen with a stylus, and SOLO CE records the coordinates and allows the user to enter attribute information.

Price and Availability
SOLO CE is available now. The cost for software only is $1,000. Bundle pricing is available for systems that include software, handheld computer, GPS receiver and a Coast Guard Beacon receiver or DGPS subscription service.
