Trimble, TDS & Nikon
Trimble and Nikon Corporation have formed a joint venture in Japan, Nikon-Trimble Co., Ltd. The joint
venture is 50 percent owned by Trimble and 50 percent owned by Nikon. As a result of this joint venture,
TDS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Trimble, has become the distributor of Nikon survey products in the
United States, including sales, support and service.
Since 70 percent of existing Nikon survey dealers were also TDS dealers, TDS was a natural choice to
assume this role. TDS and Nikon are working very closely to ensure that this transition is transparent
to customers. Nikon customers can expect to continue receiving the same excellent products and service
they've always counted on, from the dealers they know and trust.
Nikon has been manufacturing high-quality surveying instruments for over half a century. Nikon total
stations and pulse laser stations make it possible to integrate all work phases into one smooth flow,
from distance and angle measurements to complete data output, storage and processing. Nikon has also
developed a full line of advanced individual instruments such as electronic theodolites, and automatic
levels to provide new precision in surveying.
The new joint venture will lead to enhanced integration between TDS and Nikon survey products in the
near future. The combination of Nikon's total stations with TDS data collectors and surveying software
will give you easy-to-use, seamless, full-system solutions—both in the field and at the
office—for all your surveying needs.
In May 2008, TDS became the distributor of Nikon survey products in Canada as well.
